You could see Pearl Jam shirts everywhere during the event, and it was obvious many concertgoers were only there because of the band. Still, the preceding act, Maná, inarguably had a much stronger fan reaction, including fan singalongs reaching all the way to the back of the blankets. For contrast, from the front of the blankets, where I was, I couldn't hear a single Ed attempt at a singalong take hold. The applause also seemed tepid compared to that of Maná, though I've been told it was very strong up front.
That is wild. Fuck, Maná suuuuucks
You can keep Maná on your side of the fence forever.
Please.

Shame about MMJ, but pretty sure they know that festivals are a coin toss, not every festival will yield a Bonnaroo level reaction.
Their shows are a different ball game though, I've seen them 3 times now, and their crowd is super responsive.
I need to go to a My Morning Jacket show!
Yes. I have seen them 5 times and each was a memorable experience. Basically take whatever you think they sound like and amp it up times 100. One epic build after the next.

Yeah, But U2 always has sold-out shows. For the first time ever PJ is really not selling great on their EU leg. OK, it's mostly because of the high tickets prices, but still... London, Berlin and Barcelona are far far from being sold out. Check that 2nd night in Barca. It's the worst selling PJ show ever if I have to guess..
This is a good thing after those awful listening party reviews in the UK.

All of the second shows on the Australia/NZ leg seem like they've sold barely any tickets either.

I wonder whether they misjudged the venue size (gigantic stadiums) and ticket prices ($209 AUD/$140 USD), particularly after not playing their own headlining tour down here since 2009.

considering billie eilish and olivia rodrigo are both playing rod laver arena shows for a lower price, it seems almost arrogant for them to think they could sell out two shows at marvel stadium for that kind of price in the middle of a cossie livs crisis.

speaking for the UK (as an elected representative), a lot of casual fans (and otherwise) here seem to be boycotting this tour because for them, Pearl Jam are still synonymous with fighting Ticketmaster and they've noped out; can't blame 'em really; that, plus the general UK fandom has fallen off over the years, it really is just a faithfull few now

i dunno if this has been touched on, but is the decision for stone to play in open g tuning most of the album due to EV's vocals? or was it more of "this guy has so many cool guitars tuned to open g!"? i know they talked about andrew watts collection of guitar.

They way they tell it, it sounds like Stone had already written the main guitar part to Scared of Fear prior to the sessions, so I presume that one was written in open G before they arrived.

Some kind of weird production error, I can only guess.

No idea how everyone here immediately noticed but none of those involved in the video production did, however.

Can’t believe he serenaded her with “satan’s Bed”. Odd choice.

Was discussing Pearl Jam over lunch and the idea came up that, whatever one thinks of Gigaton, it doesn't have the same number of potential classics that Dark Matter does. Setting Sun, Waiting for Stevie, and Upper Hand have all been embraced heavily by fandom and played very well live to boot. From my perspective, they hit in a way that Gigaton's best songs don't. That's not even to mention other tracks. For instance, comparing song 2: I know a lot of people here really enjoy Super Blood Wolf Moon, but to me, React,Respond just feels more visceral and in line with a history of hard, edgy fast numbers rather than the spritzy punk numbers (of which SBWM is at least somewhat adjacent). I am not trying to disparage Gigaton- it is a completely different type of album. I envision it being somewhat lost live, though, and I don't think the same will happen with DM.
