I thought this song would get more of a boost in popularity after appearing on The Last Of Us

"Future Days" was on the video game, "All Or None" was on the TV show

Re: Song of the Moment: All or None
that was a jarring moment even though i was 100% listening to all or none on a discman on 2003. hearing pearl jam music appear anywhere outside of a straight listen always takes me out of the moment

This is a wonderful song.
I was lucky enough to get it live in 2016 at MSG
It sounded great. How have they only played this 17 times???

Read somewhere they [Eddie] thought it was difficult to make it sound good in big places such as arenas. I agree it could be played more and I would be more than happy to hear them open with it some time.mikejasond wrote:This is a wonderful song.

I think this is still my favorite Mike solo.

It's an awesome solo. I love this song and am not really sure why it doesn't get more play. Not many bad live versions that I've heard.

Re: Song of the Moment: All or None
i could see it working as an opener, but this would be hard to drop in the middle of a setlist

Works as the first or second song in an encore. Or one of the first 4 songs in the new mellow beginnings

Pearl Jam doesn't get better than this (literally, it's my all-time favorite of theirs currently).

Absolutely loved the way they used it and if I'm not mistaken, they played the whole song.Jorge wrote:I thought this song would get more of a boost in popularity after appearing on The Last Of Us

Re: Song of the Moment: All or None
Mike McCready has dropped a ton of good guitar solos into records over the years. But I would argue that All Or None is possibly the only time his solo has completely defined what the record was about. The song is weary and could have just faded out or had something similar to the middle solo, ending like Indifference. But instead he sets his amp on fire and burns the house down. I get real "tears of rage" vibes from it and that's what the record needed as a coda.
I'd easily pay $5 to have a version that just rolls until they cut the tape to see where else he took the solo and whatever comments the mics picked up when he was done.

I feel like the solo in "All or None" has a younger sibling in McCready's solo in "Come Back." Both are waltzes, and both soloes have a well-earned crackly fury to them.lvc wrote:Mike McCready has dropped a ton of good guitar solos into records over the years. Re: Song of the Moment: All or None
And both died too young. Come Back doesn't even get going until the solo starts and then it's over. Sigh.RockPusher wrote:I feel like the solo in "All or None" has a younger sibling in McCready's solo in "Come Back." Re: Song of the Moment: All or None
thats a really interesting point about the guitar solo. i like it. I feel that the last song on each album really wraps up its core theme, and I like the idea that Riot Act’s grief cant quite be put into wordslvc wrote:Mike McCready has dropped a ton of good guitar solos into records over the years.
