Get amongst it, Higgsy. It's not their best and likely won't remain in my 2024 top ten but it boasts a nice vibe throughout.Higgs wrote:Wait, what?? Chastity Belt have an album out already??? I checked out (and loved) the lead single then forgot about it.

Welp, BRAT is the fourth consecutive Charli XCX album that I haven't enjoyed. Really a bummer for me since her run from 2013 to 2018 is some of my favorite music ever. These last four albums just aren't doing it for me, though. The production and style sound immediately antiquated to my ears, and even the songs with good ideas play like demos, as if she didn't bother writing them into fully formed pop songs. Very disappointing. I know I'm in the minority on this, though.

I need more time with it. Big departure from the last two that I really liked a lot. But I do find with his music that familiarity breeds appreciation.Strat wrote:new Strand of Oaks album is awesome! Super synth heavy. Wonderful

That's funny, you know, I only got into her after years of having her in my periphery because you recommended Pop 2. But I immediately gravitated towards her later stuff. I think her songwriting and AG Cook's production have gotten more economical and effective. But How I'm Feeling Now is probably my favorite album of hersLoathedVermin72 wrote:Welp, BRAT is the fourth consecutive Charli XCX album that I haven't enjoyed. "Girl So Confusing" is definitely about Lorde

Checked it out and I fully agree with your comment there. I do love the slacker vibe these girls manage to ride though. This album is nice enough but not top tier for them. Still, always excellent to have more Chastity Belt to listen to!zeb wrote:Get amongst it, Higgsy. Yeah, you can't expect bands to craft major works every time they hit the studio.Higgs wrote:Checked it out and I fully agree with your comment there. Re: Albums of 2024
Logic1000 is the DJ name of Australian lass Samantha Poulter. She put out an album this year reflecting on her new found motherhood, titled, surprisingly enough, Mother.
I know this isn't everyone's taste but I am quite the fan of this sort of background groove and have been spinning this one a lot. Here's "Side by Side". It's a bop.
