I give you credit since when I was in high school that list would have been Nevermind, Ten, Vs., Purple, and Led Zeppelin IV.

Are we sure we believe Jorge was listening to those albums at that age? Wasn’t he a like a offspring super fan ?

You raise a good point, but now I'm wondering why there's no Waits. Did that come later? I know Costello came later.

It was the mid-nineties and I was a teenager, so yes. Then. My list would be quite different now.Ello Sailor wrote:Two PJ albums? What a dogshit call. Unbelievable.

No excuse. Doubling up on bands, even at that age, is a massively cornball move.
Jorge would never have let you write for that paper.

Yet, I could make the colorable argument that Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main Street are absolute must haves. I would also place both currently in my top 5 favorite albums ever.Ello Sailor wrote:No excuse. Doubling up on bands, even at that age, is a massively cornball move.

No one is gonna read no matter what I write so I may as well ignore the pull of writing for an audience, right?

They're certainly of a type. I had moved on from my punk phase and was approaching my shoegaze & indie rock phase at the timeEllo Sailor wrote:I was prepared to hate this list based on the title alone, but... that's a great fucking list.Jorge wrote:Back in high school I wrote a feature for the school newspaper titled 5 Albums You Should Be Ashamed You Don't Own. I dont think that’s an unlikely list for a high schooler. Disintegration at least would def have been on mine in high school

Those are all very much albums a high schooler into music in that era would have liked, not surprising at all. I had all of those too (even though I never took to Nick Drake)VinylGuy wrote:Are we sure we believe Jorge was listening to those albums at that age? Wasn’t he a like an offspring super fan ?

Re: Post Random Music-Related Thoughts You Have
Fitting that you also mention Pink Floyd. The connection here is that Joe Boyd produced the first 2 Nick Drake albums. Prior to that he had produced Pink Floyd’s first ever single “Arnold Layne” as well as an early compilation of theirs.liebzz wrote:I haven’t listened to that album in probably 20+ years but I have a distinct memory of really loving it and listening to it a lot in the 2000-2004 range of time, which coincided with a long delve into the Velvet Underground (not that they really sound anything alike), and Pink Floyd (also very different from the other two). I have no idea why I moved on, but it’s all stored away in some memory bank of the time, ready to be enjoyed again whenever.chewm wrote:pink moon probably in my top 10 albums of all time
