The Townshend version is flat out bad I’m afraid.

The original is the best and untouchable. Ed’s take in tags is usually always pretty great. This is sweet especially in the montage as it’s in the bear.


Go and listen to split enz for more of that kinda vibe as the original tho.

well i really liked this one. Saw it on the show, and it was beautiful

Really love it in the show. Five stars in that context. Four stars out of it.

I feel it worked well in the show but if it had been worked in to some scenes and not just played flat would have been infinitely better.

Listened to this finally. At first I appreciated that it wasn't an exact replica of the original, which was nice. Not really my thing, i much prefer the original.

But then i noticed that Pete Townsend used to cover this and released a version on a live album, which i had no idea. So I thought, "ah ok, no wonder Ed cover this, that tracks". So i listened, and Ed's cover is basically a cover of Pete's cover, including the sax. Not as original of an interpretation as I thought.

Kind of one of those irrelevant releases for me, it's fun that it exists I suppose. Production is nice though.

I knew it was Townsend’s version Ed’s been doing all this time, and really wanted him to make this cover (officially). And it’s here and it’s so underwhelming, I can’t take it. I’d rather the Townsend cover.
