He may have been related to someone who had an inside connection with a record label or promoter? It’s been a while since I read up on my grunge history.
Nah, Everman was a guy around the Seattle scene at the time who (unusually) was pretty cashed-up because he spent summers working on fishing boats in Alaska, which is how he came to pay for the recording sessions for Bleach. He joined the band on second guitar but only after the sessions were finished. Nirvana eventually kicked him out mid-tour for a being an intense weirdo. Soundgarden picked him up to play bass for a brief period but turfed him soon after too. Famously later had a very different career. Michael Azerrad interviewed him about Nirvana and said he felt legitimately frightened in his presence, so I think the guy's just got a weird vibe.

Chad Channing was kicked out because he wasn't a powerful enough drummer, yes - though they had tons of drummers before him.

Imagine being kicked out of a band for being a weirdo and then getting replaced by Ben Shepherd.

just glad no one here has said ‘Dave A’

the buzzcocks thing was bullshit

we all know Ed was jealous of Dave’s hair

just check the last SNL performance

one uses conditioner, and one doesnt

and the gap between the two was not small
