Re: Things you have an irrational hatred of
Perhaps not quite the right thread here but a little bit of a rant on youth travel sports.
My kids are not officially on a team (which costs thousands and takes up every single weekend with all day driving and multiple games per day or I guess you can stay in a shit motel overnight) but have been invited to play a few times and caught rides with other team parents (which is great for me & Mrs. Bam’s sex life).
Anyway, it includes outdoor baseball here in Seattle in like Novemer. LOL.
Well, the team/program my kids have subbed in for has, like most programs, a team for each age group. 9U, 10U, 11U, etc. They all practice together and usually it’s at a field in Bellevue, fairly central to where all the kids live.
Today is Sunday (my kids aren’t playing today). They got home about 9:30 last night from yesterday’s two games. This morning at 8:30 is their next game. It’s in Puyallup. If you know the area, that’s a bit of a drive. My kids have been subbing for the 9U team. Their opponent this morning for the game that requires 6:30am commute to a field an hour away? The 10U team from the same team/program that they practice with in Bellevue all the time.
What is the fucking point?

My nephew is on a traveling team and I can’t imagine letting that rule my family’s existence.

youth sports should be about fun unless your child looks like lebron james in which case it makes sense to invest in professional coaching
