Fictional presidents and their political affiliations

Post by Jorge »

In this thread we discuss fictional presidents from movies/TV and speculate on their political affiliations if it's not explicitly stated in the film.

Let's start with Bill Pullman as President Thomas J. Whitmore in the movie Independence Day. What do you think?

If they're good guys then I assume the filmmakers intend them to be democrats. Bad guys are republicans.

There hasn’t been a Democratic president who was a combat veteran since LBJ. I don’t think Pullman was old enough for him to be a Vietnam vet (maybe? He was in his early 40s when the movie was filmed), but if he was, I’d wager he was a Republican. Not a Gingrich-era, Contract With America GOPer, but a slightly further right version of Clinton. Can’t stop thinking about how his wife acted like she was meeting the aliens when she had to interact with a black family.

He was a fighter pilot, but several years before Bush became a president, so I guess it's not modelled after him.

Bush Sr was a pilot, so it could have been influenced by him.

Is it a McDonald’s quarter pounder that has been sitting on a plate for 3 hours? If so, he’s MAGA.
