i watched that guy on youtube teach the opening riff. it's pretty great. something about it still reminds me of 'black', but also 'breath' more obviously. i havent even looked at the chords b/c someone on here pointed out everything is in weird tuning and i'm still trying to figure out e standard lolblueviper wrote:I've learned the opening lick and general chords on guitar and it's fun playing along with the song.

David Karl Krusen should’ve taken drums on this one.

Re: Waiting For Stevie
Dave K’s sweet spot would be unspeakable here. He played Alive better than anyone. Isn’t that song fairly similar to this one?
The bridge would be different. Matt’s talent is really evident there.
The end of the song would have been a challenge but i think K would nail it. His playing maybe even could’ve brought out more feel from Mike. Could you imagine?

Re: Waiting For Stevie
his drumming on the end of porch is the closest to it. I think Matt drives it in a way Dave K would not have. it would be interesting because it would be different, but this is one of matt’s best performances I think

Re: Waiting For Stevie
Matt’s fill bringing everyone back in from the middle section into the verse precludes thoughts of any other drummer playing on this. Absolute perfection.

Almost the first thing I said when I first heard it -- you can almost hear Chris singing it.Gigalogy84 wrote:I feel like if Chris Cornell were still with us he would be featured in this song. I’ve always thought of this song as I Got Shit if it were on Yield but at the same time I get the early 90s feel the more I listen to it.

Re: Waiting For Stevie
When the album first came out - I couldn't stop playing this song
Needed some space from it, so I purposely skipped it and avoided it
Yesterday, I put it on for the first time in weeks...
Whoa !! still a banger of a song !!
Easily my favorite on the album
Easily the best song they have released in 25 years

Re: Waiting For Stevie
Isn't this the song where Andrew Watt was "jumping up and down" in front of the kit pushing Matt to give everything he had? Honestly, that one little bit of info made me love Wotman.stip wrote:his drumming on the end of porch is the closest to it.
