If ed tried that shit he'd be crucified. Thankfully eds version of aiming for the mainstream is the fixer....

It really, really does. No schtick or joke intended.

But I mean the world is a pretty funny place
that katy perry song?
Oh, honey, no.

Holy fucking shit. That's real, right?
How the hell did anyone involved think this was going to work? What a mishmash of ill-fitting, hideously disfigured parts.

Its akin to Greg? Brady being Johnny Bravo in The Brady Bunch.

He just fits the suit, man.

Part of Me was at least laughable. Watch Out could be one of the worst songs made within the past decade, possibly two decades.

So it turns out Chris Cornell can sing really well, even though he's getting up there in years.

I'd take a discography of 1000 ukulele albums over this.

The rock version of Long Gone wasn't so bad. Kinda Sirenesque.

Yeah back to the point, this version of Footsteps is great and Cornell can still sing like a motherfucker.

Still less embarrassing than the Fixer video.

I don't believe it's possible that Chris was unaware of the absurdity of the whole exercise.

It's entirely possible to say the same thing about The Fixer video, but in both cases, we'd be lying to ourselves.

They probably know its stupid, I mean Eddie pretty much admitted than sirens was cheesetastic.

I wonder if that song ended up big or something, would Cornell have become the next justin Timberlake instead of starting up soundgarden again.

well, if it was meant to be absurd, what's the sensible point of doing this? if it was meant to be tongue in cheek, it's a fail/fail situation. there's no reasonable way to justify this, even if it was meant to be a 180 career move. The Fixer vid sure was corny but it didn't make PJ look like a bunch of dumbasses - it was just awkward for them to have to hire an audience (and to run up those stairs :haha: )

I just don't think cheesetastic = stupid to them. That's the thing. They like something, they'll do it. I think it's harder to accept that they might just like shitty music now.

I don't the whole big deal with Cornell doing the Timbaland album. It was a chance. Obviously it didn't work. But for some reason people only admire chances when they're homeruns. The very definition of a chance is that they usually fail. He thought he'd try something new out, he knew it was going to get some kind of reaction. I honestly haven't even looked into it much but I don't get the uproar it caused. Years later, it must be satisfying for him to know that atleast he tried something. A little turn in a long and fruitful career. What's the big deal?

Oh yeah, we'd have loved that shit if it had been successful that's for sure.

No I mean they know that it can/will be perceived as cheesy or whatever. But they don't care cause they're pj and that's what they do. The fixer and sirens are just aspects of eddies sincerity amplified to 1000.

'That bitch ain't a part of me'.....is something else. Admittedly I don't know much about Chris Cornell though, maybe he's all about the Bitches.

I think the Cornell video, in the context of his career, is knowingly absurd and kind of hilarious (even if unintentionally).

I think The Fixer video, in the context of Pearl Jam's career, is just awkward and a bit weird.
