I'm more irritated about this now than I was last night. They really shit the bed on this. Just give me Andor season two and then stop with this Marvel-level fan pandering.

That bad huh?
i really didn't love this series either. I could see what they were going for and maybe it did get there but overall just wasnt for me.
it was visually the most gorgeous of the new stuff. But thats small comfort. It was wall to wall awful performances. None of these people should ever act again.
i'll watch this later and see. Huge calls for season two so far though.

haha
there's complete consensus that that is indeed Plagueius, so that's good.

apparently the music cue in this ep when we see plagueius? is the very same music cue in ROTS when Palpatine mentions him

Re: Star Wars: Acolyte
It's definitely weird to me, too. But I also understand that sometimes people keep watching because they want to like it and hope it'll get better. I certainly wasn't enamored by the first two episodes and I'm glad I kept going.
The show is flawed but there's a lot here to love and to think about. It's a complex show with (sorry, dime) some just outstanding performances. And while I certainly don't think it's helpful or interesting to just ignore and throw out all the stuff I didn't like, I still think it's more interesting and more fun to celebrate the stuff I did like.
Why keep watching and posting and thinking about this stuff if it's just a slog or irritating to you? If there's nothing left to celebrate and all you get out of it anymore is shitposting and tearing it down, is it good for you to keep engaging with it? I don't know. Everyone has there own thing. Everyone has to decide that for themselves.
I certainly don't judge anyone for disliking the show. Taste is taste. And if you're disappointed, you should be allowed to talk about that. But, again, I have to ask those folks, is there anything you DID like? And if not... why keep going?

Re: Star Wars: Acolyte
Anyway, I really enjoyed that finale. The show went from the worst SW live action series to the middle of the pack. And the lore stuff that was introduced was excellent. I truly love some of these characters. Put me in the camp with the others desperate for a S2. It feels like LH had a real point of view and a specific thing she wanted to explore and while I have no inside knowledge it does really feel like there was some Lucasfilm interference here. And that damaged the show a bit.
Do a S2 and let LH have more creative control and I think you could have something truly special.
The show also works better on a binge. They should consider dropping the whole thing at once if they do end up green lighting a S2.

i do like that it feels like a movie..one long piece you could easily edit and stitch them altogether.

Re: Star Wars: Acolyte
I think the show's biggest issue was it's structure.
Part of me wishes they'd avoided the half-assed, faux Rashamon nonsense and combined ep 3 and ep 7 into one hour + long flashback episode showing what really happened there. And maybe don't make it a "flashback" but just the first episode of the series. Of course, if you do that you lose a lot of the impact with Sol. There's no way you trust him or feel betrayed later when you see how badly he fucked up.
Maybe what they should have done is take the LOST approach. And weave in small flashback scenes from different character POV's in each episode. That would have been dope.
But, yeah, for my own rewatches I'll do 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 3&7, 8.

Nope. Wrong. I'll think that if he likes it, not if he watches it. And only the finale!epilogue wrote:Ruddo will think you're an emo loser if you do. So, I guess it depends on how much you value Ruddo's opinion of you.wease wrote:Ok team, do I need to watch this or not?
