Finished a rewatch of Alien 3 in my road to Romulus.

Damn what a very bleak sequel. Newt and hicks are dead in a horrible way, Ripley has the monster inside , the prision is an awful place, the company is as bad as always…FX are really dated but the movie has some moments still.

I assume this was the regular edit. Fincher clearly cast it off but I find the score perfect for the film and there is a lot to enjoy. I know you watched Aliens again recently and where I obviously do not hate that movie in the least, 3 comes much closer to what I am looking for in an Alien film.

Yeah theatrical versions for both aliens and alien 3. Yeah it does comes close to treat the beast as Ridley did in the first one; were the beast is always hidden. I like that a lot; aliens does it on another level, kinda showing them in the dark and with closer shots.

I like Alien 3 a lot actually, it’s a very strong sequel and also a brutal one.

Pulls no punches and just gets you in to the space of the film, which we go back to almost claustrophobic again as in Alien. A funny thing with 3 is that I feel I can smell the film, the sweat, the steam the oppressing heat. I get Fincher was pissed off but a lot was conveyed for the viewer. I enjoy the first three very much but 1 and 3 get far more viewing than 2.

Yeah I love most of his approach and how he shoot everything at fury. It does look a little dated on how the alien actually moves and both 1 and 2 still look amazing. But the actuall beast looks awesome.

I also love the ending with the original nostromo recording.

I think I'm on the record stating that I also prefer Alien 3 to Aliens, so I better stick with that.

Alien
Alien 3
Aliens
Prometheus
Covenant

I still need to watch Resurrection.

Resurrection was my first Alien in theaters also. I was a kid. I always say that the best audience for horror is kids.

I was as well.

First half was great. Second half was cheesy and terrible, mostly due to the performances. Nic Cage, Alicia Witt, the asian FBI agent, and the doctor (very brief appearance) all badly overacted.

I really liked "Thine Ears Shall Bleed", even though I can see some people thinking it's a dollar store The Witch (The Wish?); it's religious fundie puritan horror with a great central idea, cosmic horror spin and a little camp for good measure

Longlegs

It had it's moments, but mostly pretty dumb.

Nicolas Cage got some big laughs in the theater I was in.

it's at my cinema for ONE DAY, 12th August. I'm gonna try to book it, it's been an agonising wait for me; I'm expecting it to be a very important movie to me
