if a riderless dragon was going to sniff out a targaryen you would have hoped it was going to be the neice minding the kids.. i mean thats why they showed us her finding the big burned patch, it was telegraphing it surely?

ah. so seasmoke was the dragon of Corless' son that left with his gay lover..and has been riderless ever since.
And this guy with the dreads is Corless' bastard son, or one of them.
that makes a bit more sense i guess..Corless is gonna have to recognise him now.

but they are telegraphing the niece getting that big one thats flying free too, i reckon.

I liked the idea that the Targaryens have been wrong this whole time and dragons choose, but I'm not sure that is what they are doing. They could just being pulling an Anakin/Acolyte with Jon Snow... but I have not read the books this is based on.

anakin has nothing whatsoever at all to do with the acolyte series. ignore that nonsense as thats all it is.

which targaryens are wrong though? its two sides of the same immediate family. The dragons do indeed choose. man theyve wasted a lot of time with Daemons acid trips, but thats cos its a slim enough book, and they need to get multiple seasons out of this, is all really.
drag it all out.

I think they’ve spent one episode too long on Daemon’s Haunted Mansion, but it truly does set up the theater in the Riverlands and Daemon’s descent into his future decisions.

Book spoiler about Daemon and the Vale dragon
Spoiler: show
I hope they’re not making Rhaena the rider of sheepstealer; Nettles being Daemon’s rumored lover adds a layer into how Rhaenyra fares in the turning tides of the war

Extremely mild GoT TV series spoilers:
Spoiler: show
The rider seasmoke chose is not a blood relative of a Targaryen though, at least so far as the story has revealed. He's a bastard, like Jon Snow. Who is able to ride a dragon, like Jon Snow. So either he's a secret Targaryen, like Jon Snow, or they have been wrong about the bloodline requirement.

gotcha.
the chap with the dreads is the one he chose though. blood recognises blood.
i dont think dragons adhere to those rules tbh.
or any rules. he smelled his former riders brother. half brother, doesnt matter to him
they just know the scent of those they know or related, and go from there.
this is all very similar to Robin Hobbs lore with Dragons, in her Elderlings books. All about dragons (being misused) and part of the Fitzchivalry Farseer saga.

how did any of Danys dragons recognise jon snow at all? they werent even born, they were in eggs three hundred years before

they just smelled his blood and lineage

It isn’t a requirement to be Targaryen, just of Valyrian descent, which houses Velaryon and Celtigar are as well

Thought for a second dragons also racially profiled.

The lesbian kiss….fuck that guard for interrupting. But the foreplay….”My dad raped the shit out of me…” That nearly rivals Jamie and Cersei fucking by their dead son’s corpse. These people are insatiable.
