Everyone list the top 3 things you are looking forward to under a Harris presidency.

And your answer cannot contain “first female president” because while yes, that is historic and would be a monumental achievement, it doesn’t count for this question.

But it’s not about maintaining a balanced worldview. If his views are strong enough, he should have the emotional bandwidth to maintain them while still maintaining connections with those with opposing views.
Opposing political views sure. But if we take politics out of it and my cousin makes a comment that a person sucks dick just because she’s a woman, I’m probably not hanging out with him.
But B’s anecdote is clearly oriented towards politics, and more generally designed to get a laugh from this political allies
But are you listening to Eminem’s new album?

You stay good and entrenched in that thought silo, there, pal.

Keep all the nasty opposing thoughts out.
When I need sexist and homophobic rhetoric to keep me grounded, I'm sure you guys will keep my cup full.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Eminem is still rapping? It's time for him to step down and let a younger generation lead the way.

I think it’s fine to block, say, a coworker or one of your kids’ classmates parents. But family? Shit is stupid. They’ll be at weddings and funerals, you’ll be rallying around eldercare together some day. Just a total lacking in perspective IMO.

I guess I’m stupid? I have an uncle that the only communication he does any more is group emails to multiple family members making very sexist and very racist “political” “jokes”. I’m not smart enough to have good perspective i guess because i blocked his emails. Just no need to deal with that.

I would never call you stupid, but you could just as easily delete his emails; that way you’ll still get them when it’s when aunt Millie dies or whatever.

Seriously, this newfound instinct to block out anything or anyone that doesn’t align with one’s worldview is so messed up. And I get the need for self-preservation; it’s a tough balance to strike. I can’t imagine any scenario where I’d block family members, not unless they committed fraud or a crime against our family maybe.
So completely racist and graphically sexist is just a worldview I should tolerate?

I’ve got an uncle who trends this way and yeah I just delete those emails.

I didn’t want to miss the other emails which were updates about his daughter (my cousin) who recently died of cancer in her 40’s.

Although his email chains are generally more tin-hatish conspiracy stuff
