No Way Out (1987). Wanted to try this after it was featured on the Rewatchables. It’s very good! Even Costner does a solid job. I miss when Hollywood made movies like this.

Yep. Definitely caught me by surprise. And really I didn't care if it "worked" or not. I enjoyed the journey too much.

Manhunter. A bit of a mixed bag, but overall I enjoyed it. Tom Noonan looked 57 years old.

when you say mixed, what didn't you like?

Well I generally really enjoyed the style (minus some of the music but that’s not really fair). Around the middle it just lost some steam for me, as I was really into the first 45 minutes or so. It’s really just some minor quibbles with some of the dialogue and screenplay. Mann is a great director though.

I felt like Petersen could have been better in scenes toward the end when he’s trying to channel Leckter. He was okay overall but the worst of the main actors

I love Manhunter, specially if you compare it to Red Dragon and you see how pale and mainstream that version is. Mann´s is on full aesthetic mission on this movie, and it works beatifully. Noonan is amazing on this one. What an amazing actor he is.

I don’t hate Red Dragon as much as everyone else. It’s a bad movie but the individual performances are mostly great, especially Hoffman and Emily Watson, whom I find mesmerizing
