It's absolutely true. Especially since no one seems to know what a database is and everything just runs on massive spreadsheets that were invented five years ago and are being asked to do way too much at this point

There is a baboon in me . . . clambering-clawed . . . dog-faced . . . yawping a galoot's hunger . . . hairy under the armpits . . . here are the hawk-eyed hankering men . . . here are the blonde and blue-eyed women . . . here they hide curled asleep waiting . . . ready to snarl and kill . . . ready to sing and give milk . . . waiting—I keep the baboon because the wilderness says so.

There is an eagle in me and a mockingbird . . . and the eagle flies among the Rocky Mountains of my dreams and fights among the Sierra crags of what I want . . . and the mockingbird warbles in the early forenoon before the dew is gone, warbles in the underbrush of my Chattanoogas of hope, gushes over the blue Ozark foothills of my wishes—And I got the eagle and the mockingbird from the wilderness.

Just finished a three day training. My learning partner is a manufacturing automation engineer I used to be in the same group with when I hired into the company. He left the group for another one in R&D during some restructuring and my entire business team integrated into one of the business divisions.

Typically a very mild mannered person, by the second half of day two he was the class clown. Perfectly well intentioned class disruption though, and I think he was building great report with the trainer. This was a side of him I hadn’t seen before, besides knowing him for typical cerebral engineering type of humor or general sage advice. Class fricking clown.

This is how introverts become after that many hours worth of forced socialization.

There's a couple middle-aged, nearing retirement ladies in my new office. You have no idea the kudos I've gotten for basic computer stuff like changing the printer preference to single-sided or using 'paste without formatting'. I'm like in-house IT over there. I'm very popular with the old ladies. I think the 25 year old kid who has never worked in an office before is a little jealous, though

Have some personnel issues/drama at one of my centers. Got one girl that misses all the time and she tells everybody else there why so one of the other girls tells her she hates working with her because we never know if she’s gonna show up or not. I’m already working on what I need to do to write this girl up for her attendance but then this weekend, she calls out saying she can’t work with that other girl anymore because she’s being bullied. So now, I’m like, fuck now I have to fucking report it to HR. So I call Lenny and he basically tells me what I was hoping. That attendance girl seems to be causing all the drama. If she shows up tomorrow, I write her up. If she doesn’t, she’s fired.
