All the mead I've ever had is like champagne.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Finally got a chance to have some Pliny the Elder in Denver.

A beer that really lives up to the hype.

No. But I did see a guy walking around in a Raiders hat and thought... That has to be the most miserable human alive.

Don't know if it lives up to the hype or not, but its a really good IPA.
Last week I tried a "Pliny For President"... Also pretty good but not quite as good as standard Pliny.

Pliny is fantastic. Haven't had it in a while as I don't travel to PA or trade beer like I used to but man, it would be so damn great to get a quality west coast IPA more frequently.

Also, Russian River is simply a world-class brewery.

Pliny the younger 20th anniversary out in the wild :heartbeat:
If that sounds basic, keep in mind "out in the wild" is Tijuana, Mexico.

not gonna lie, i didn't find Pliny all that special. i mean, it was good don't get me wrong, and i thoroughly enjoyed it. but the lore would have you believe you'll see Jesus welcoming you into the gates of Heaven. have had plenty of other IPAs that are just as good or more interesting. if anything they've done a fantastic job creating – and maintaining – the hype behind it.

agreed. and let's be honest: the only reason for the continued hype is their lack of wide-spread distribution.

I don't think they do a single thing to hype it up so indeed, the aura builds itself aided by the few distro points.

A good beer is a good beer though, I really need to grab one soon because also not changing your recipe is pretty ballsy these days and respectable.

Every other beer that I've had (late) from those "must have before you die" lists has been a bit forgettable or a major letdown. Pliny is the first that delivered, for me. I'm not saying it's the best beer I've ever had. Honestly, Two Heated is still the gold standard as far as I'm concerned. But Pliny was really, really good. And I'm bummed that I don't have more regular access to it.

Local place has had Two Hearted on, I was quite happy but it happens to be a Barcade that does not clean their lines often and it blows.

That should be a felony.
