Does a Harris admin start a tax transfer program to those poor benighted regions of the country without Sheetz, Wawa, or Buccees?B wrote:Buccee's is the new hotness.

but attacking that kid is already backfiring on them.
it's gonna bury Trumps hopes of reelection.

No. It's not. MAGAs won't care. We just have endure the worst behavior imaginable, and it will have zero impact on the outcome of the election.dimejinky99 wrote:fair point. Re: The All-Inclusive Kamala Harris thread
I know she didn't hand out a spreadsheet, but that's an answer. Just because you don't like the answer doesn't mean she didn't answer.tragabigzanda wrote:Ideologically it resonates, but to my knowledge she never answered the question on how she'll pay for it.ImpactAlpha wrote:"On her way to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Vice President Kamala Harris stopped in Moon Township, Pa., to talk, among other things, about her plan to expand the child tax credit for newborns and revive the expanded benefit available during the Covid-19 pandemic. How would she pay for the $6,000 credit, a reporter asked. Pandemic-era expanded child tax credits, since discontinued, helped cut child poverty rates by half. “The return on that investment, in terms of what that will do and what it will pay for, will be tremendous,” Harris said. She uses the same language of business to talk about other social priorities. Homeownership, for example, increases the tax base to provide vital funding for schools. Her focus on measurement and returns may have resonance for impact investors, many of whom are investing behind the same themes. “It's a mistake for any person who talks about public policy to not critically evaluate how you measure the return on investment when you are strengthening neighborhoods, strengthening communities, and investing in a broad-based economy,” she said. “Everybody benefits, and it pays for itself in that way.”

It’s pretty neat that this will be my daughter’s first presidential election, and she has the opportunity to vote for a woman.

I won’t vote trump, but I still haven’t heard anything that could be legally implemented. That’s a good strategy for her, though the dream of another blue teamer who talks a bit to left but leads as a pragmatic centrist… a 3rd term Obama… isn’t gonna happen any more than my once glorious hairline will come back.tragabigzanda wrote:Not that anyone cares, but she’s made some ground with me the last few days. Her campaign promises seem to run the gamut from practical/actionable to total pipe dream, but at least there are a lot of ideas…
My biggest hurdle has been her position on Palestine, and her words on the topic tonight weren’t the vigorous support of Palestinians I’d hope for, nor a total break from the war machine, but it also wasn’t insignificant as far as political platitudes go.
