I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Ego was a boring antagonist but there was plenty of good stuff in there. I especially liked the introduction of Mantis. Great character. Also, Yondu vs. the mutineers was awesome.

Totally. Parts of 2 and 3 reminded me a lot of The Fifth Element in that way. I fucking love that movie.

Each of those movies is better than the previous one. Volume 2 is probably the prettiest Marvel movie, and resonates emotionally with its themes of parenthood.

Lindsay Ellis made a very good video about the movie's emotional throughline

I haven't seen the third. I'm definitely in the minority, but they feel too calculated to me. Almost too polished or something. The soundtrack stuff annoys me.

Love The Suicide Squad though. That one is off the rails.

The Suicide Squad (2021)

Solid movie. It peaked right at the beginning with the beach assault though. Street Shark dude was great. Idris was just okay. I think I prefer him in more serious roles. Margot Robbie was perfect as Harley Quinn and was the focal point of the film's most impressive shots. (Is Birds of Prey any good?)

Watchmen: Chapter I (2024)

I dunno, guys. Obviously the Reznor + Ross score slaps, but this just felt unnecessary to me. Maybe subsequent chapters will change that, but as a standalone it's a bit of a nothingburger. The 2009 film is better in every way.

The Iron Claw

Jesus, that was brutal. The second half is one big gut punch. Efron is the real deal? Weird. Anyway, I haven't been that bummed since Million Dollar Baby. Good movie, but God damn.

I watched this a few months back and found to to be fairly enjoyable, but a real bummer.

It has the all time WORST Ric Flair impersonation I have ever seen. As a wrestling fan it was tough to watch. I'm fairly certain literally anybody else would have been better.

I assume you quoted the wrong person, but yeah that flair impersonation was bad, and was a big missed opportunity for the movie. Good movie though.
