Re: Albums of 2024
I think I've always had an aesthetic preference to album covers that's in contrast with the majority opinion, generally speaking.
A post-Spotify wold has me even further removed, honestly. It sucks how rarely I see it even think about album covers anymore. Maybe I'm just jarred by this cover (because I actually saw it) and maybe that's a good thing?

"Baggy" was essentially Northern soul-inflected Brit Pop (think Oasis, The Verve) combined with popular UK dance music styles of the time, like trip-hop; The Stone Roses were Baggydad wrote:listened to that Fontaines album twice last night, and enjoyed it. I’d say ms h’s description is pretty spot on, though I will admit I don’t know what baggy is.
I really liked Motorcycle Boy - feels like it could be a Smashing Pumpkins song.
Favourite is also great - scratches the jangly guitar itch.

this album has been a nice surprise. i knew a couple of songs from the first album, and never really delved into them. need to remedy that.

I know The Weight has been covered by everyone and their grandmas, but man... Her voice on it is just right, strong contender for the best version I've heard.
Plus doing that song with Levon Helm is the cherry on top.

Re: Albums of 2024
Finally got around to the latest Chastity Belt. Liked it, didn't love it. But it's interesting enough that I'm sure I'll keep it in semi-regular rotation. Expect it'll grow on me with more listens.

i didn't like it as much either, and tbh i think the cover art being bad affected my experience with it.epilogue wrote:Finally got around to the latest Chastity Belt. Liked it, didn't love it.
