Same architecture. 40 years ago I was sitting in front of a 12 inch black and white TV in my room with tin foil on the antenna thinking this is the height of technology. Maybe that's how it is in the books but feels like a lack of imagination on the show runners part or maybe I'm just cranky today.
today?

I have no rebuttal :D

Hmm.. "blue" as a verb

I hated the first ten minutes of expository tedium. That plot should’ve been expanded to encompass the entire first episode. (And wasn’t the original plan for this series to be about the sisterhood’s founding?)

Overall, I found it pretty uneven. Production value is decent but it’s impossible not to compare it to Villeneuve’s mastery, and it is lacking in craft. The writing and dialogue were iffy. Acting was fine but no one blew me away. Although that nutjob Fimmel is always captivating.

I know you can’t just get Hans Zimmer (…right?) but I found the score underwhelming. And they also made the cardinal mistake of overscoring nearly every second of screen time.
Spoiler: show
It was a pleasant surprise to see the thinking machines and the direct foreshadowing of their eventual return.
I think they’re sacrificing what would have been a more solid premise concerning the founding and going right to the flashy prophecy and palace intrigue stuff thinking that’s an easier sell. And maybe it is but I’m not excited about it.

Good job on the font matching with the movies, though!

Yeah the Thinking Machines was a nice surprise. I 100% agree with you on the first ten minutes being expanded. That topic was the most interesting thing of the episode.

Better but it still feels amateurish at times, almost like a SyFy series. Their need to have characters verbally over-explain every plot point makes for a frustrating watch. I did like the Agony scene, other than the dodgy CGI. Watson was good.

This is like 99% of TV series nowadays. Says something about how they view the audience,.

I'm also uncertain about the series, but I look forward to the third Villeneuve Dune movie.

i love Travis Fimmel but he plays the same character on every show

Vikings, Raised by Wolves and now Dune

that being said, he's probably the best thing about the show so far lol

I was thinking the same thing. Especially Raised by Wolves, this is the exact same character! I do love me some Mark Strong, though.

Episode 3 was a marked improvement due largely to the flashbacks. Good stuff.

Great episode. I'm excited to see where they are taking it with the mother sister superior whatever she is going to see Uncle Harkkonen.
