I fuckin' hate CDs.
Not really. I don't own a record player because the format was on life support when I was buying music and I don't really care to buy it again.

I love this song, but the best part are the various faces Stone makes while playing it.RockPusher wrote:This song has some okay elements but as a whole I've always felt it was repetitive screechy garbage.

A song that benefits from a brisker pace in my opinion.darth_vedder wrote:Jorge wrote:Also known as the live versionFarmer John wrote:Don't get me started on Off He Goes at 1.25I do really like the Live On Two Legs version though

Yes and no for me. I really love the LOTL version but the quiet acoustics of the studio version is gorgeous. Hearing Mike and Stone's fingers slide on acoustic strings and hearing the picking are some of my favorite moments of the song.Farmer John wrote:A song that benefits from a brisker pace in my opinion.darth_vedder wrote:Jorge wrote:Also known as the live versionFarmer John wrote:Don't get me started on Off He Goes at 1.25I do really like the Live On Two Legs version though

The studio version of Off He Goes is one of the best things the band's ever done, it feels so relaxed and intimate.
One of those songs that's always suffered without Jack.

There are a lot of songs that have always suffered without Jack. While I know many people don't feel like Matt can do a satisfactory Dave A. impression, he really, really fails on the Irons stuff in my opinion. And I say that as a fan of Matt.Birds in Hell wrote:The studio version of Off He Goes is one of the best things the band's ever done, it feels so relaxed and intimate.

Probably more of a "random PJ thought" but there are songs like this thread's title where I think Matt is best. The way he just pounds kick drum and ride cymbal is so intense. Like really, this should be an aerobics exercise, same with React/Respond. Matt has to be the drummer for that song. But...Jack is my guy. I would have loved to hear his take on some of those Binaural songs, especially Parting Ways and Of The Girl. Matt does a hell of a job, it's just that Jack does much better on those vibey type songs. He would have done wonders on Parachutes too.RockPusher wrote:There are a lot of songs that have always suffered without Jack. I agree about all the wonderful qualities that make the studio version of Off He Goes so great (and a track worth checking out in dolby/spacial audio if you haven't)
I love the relaxed vibe, but wouldn't complain if they upped the tempo (just a touch!). Give it a teensy bit more pep in it's step. If not, no big deal. It's a favourite track regardless.

I'm trying to think of what Matt's best Jack song would be if I had to pick one, and I'm coming up empty.darth_vedder wrote:Probably more of a "random PJ thought" but there are songs like this thread's title where I think Matt is best. Matt’s version of Present Tense is pretty good, in part because he’s taken a different approach and made it his own.Farmer John wrote:I'm trying to think of what Matt's best Jack song would be if I had to pick one, and I'm coming up empty.darth_vedder wrote:Probably more of a "random PJ thought" but there are songs like this thread's title where I think Matt is best. That doesn’t always work for me, however. He’s certainly given Given to Fly a different feel but very much for the worse in my view.

Matt’s best Jack song is Hail, Hail.
