are you one of those dads who think their kids keep them hip?Bi_3 wrote:LoathedVermin72 wrote:I think this is far less about race than it is about middle age. My reading on this thread: as people age and retreat into bubbles comprised mostly of other people around the same age, they become more and more detached from cultural trends, and this thread seems to be based on the premise that because the OP isn't cognizant of said trends, they must not exist. Pretty standard middle-age-and-up solipsism, I would say. Basically a pseudo-intellectualized "music was better when I was young" argument.
Ok, then enlighten me. What do I not see? What have you moved on to?

Rock/popular music's time for innovation has come and gone.
As far as fashion, they rebooted Frasier and barely had to change the clothes from 30 years ago.

Rock, yes. Pop, no. These are two genres that could not be in more different places.rick malone wrote:Rock/popular music's time for innovation has come and gone.

But anyway, what is the culture now? What is the great millennial cultural innovation?

For me, culture is posting perfectly normal looking photos of celebrities and saying things like "she was INSANE for this"
