I was there Saturday night with one of my oldest friends… We’ve seen a few PJ shows together over the years.

Had fan club seats… 4 rows deep just behind GA. Dead center practically.

They slayed. Absolutely top shelf - vintage level show. Reading the Setlist doesn’t even do it justice. The crowd and the band were both on fire… From start to finish. Was grateful to be a part.

It’s hard to believe this band can still deliver live like this after all these years.

Can’t wait to hear the boot.

it's hard to explain what happened saturday night. i've seen these guys 24 times since 1998, and they somehow put on the best show i've ever seen on saturday. its not just the band or the interaction with the fans, it's the energy it creates. you can almost grab it out of the air. it's a real visceral feeling. i literally had chills. i joke about not going to church anymore but still going to pearl jam concerts, but it's only half a joke, really. this is church, and these guys preached rock music to my soul.

I haven't heard Long Road since my dad died. I've had a few close friends and relatives pass in the last few years. this is the song I play when I think of them. its the lyrics i write in funeral cards. this one really hit me.

the dedication of Given to Fly to the Gaudreau brothers had a lot of us in tears. EV's speech was on the local news a lot here, i saw a lot of people who knew the family posting it on facebook. their death really shocked the community here, and the fact that they played Given to Fly of all songs for them is nothing short of amazing.

Breath. jesus fucking christ! i've seen lots of sing alongs, but the end of this, it's like a tidal wave. the hair on my arms were standing up.

I used to listen to Ed's solo cover of 'i won't back down' before wrestling matches, so this one always hits pretty hard. i'm not sure how many times ive heard it before at a pearl jam show.

EV specifically mentioned playing Chloe/Crown at special times. i dunno how many times they played it this tour, and i don't care. it's always a special song.

Ledbetter is my favorite pearl jam song, but I'm not sure there's anything better live than 'baba o'riley'. i've been in love with this cover since i was in high school.

Indifference with the lights on.

everything i didn't mention was equally as great. the new songs sounded great, the band is on fire, EV sounds awesome. it's sometimes difficult to put into words what this band does, but when you feel it, you feel it.

It was! I was sitting side stage and saw both Doug and Josh Shapiro during the encore. Doug caught a tambourine from Eddie and then tossed it into the crowd which was a nice gesture. I'm sure he got another one from Eddie later.

awesome

I wonder if Doug or Josh got any requests in!?

that mid-set pro-choice speech by Ed rings harder now knowing those guys were there

Josh Shapiro was a few seats over on my plane when I flew home from Detroit last April, having a conversation with a lady about Motown music.
True story and I have no idea why he was there. Maybe a Bob Seger concert.
