wristwatches & other pieces of time
I've never really been one to wear a wristwatch. Maybe I've had 5 different watches total in my life. Yet, lately I've noticed watches more and more out in the wild. The simple ones catch my eye the most, but the heavy duty sports watches when worn right can make a bold statement. I found a watch recently in a pawn shop. Nothing special about it. Seems well made, if a little basic. Quartz movement with a chronographic dial. Quick googling tells me its a hong kong product, and worth a whopping $54 on eBay, but I got it for $20. A steal if it keeps good time, which so far it has.

Re: wristwatches & other pieces of time
I’ve worn a watch most of my life and I have completely given myself over to the Apple watch.
I might wear a regular watch now like 5-10 days out of the entire year.

I need a pocketwatch. Wrist watches get in the way.

I’ve been wanting an Apple Watch for years. Haven’t taken the plunge.
I’ve got a pocket watch that belonged to my great-great grandfather. It still keeps time very well.

Re: wristwatches & other pieces of time
I can clearly remember seeing a gold day/date time piece on my dad's dresser growing up. In my mind, it was a Rolex. I asked him about it recently, and he told me I was crazy and that he'd never owned a Rolex in his life. The watch I was remembering was in fact a Seiko. This makes a lot more sense in retrospect. He never could have afforded a Rolex and we didn't have that type of upbringing.

I’ve worked out how to program my microwave to show a 12 hour clock, but my oven seems to only show a 24 hour clock. Mildly annoying.doug rr wrote:it builds inner strengthChris_H_2 wrote:i would go maddoug rr wrote:our microwave is above our stove..both have time devices on them in that really bad blue color..they've been 1 minute off from each other since we moved in..

My Dad had a Rolex. I vividly remember him wearing it when I was a kid. I asked my Mum whatever happened to it and she told me he traded it in for a Seiko years ago.washing machine wrote:I can clearly remember seeing a gold day/date time piece on my dad's dresser growing up. Probably a good trade. It's easier to walk around with a Seiko, I bet.

Stop wishing for what you no longer have and just be here now. That Seiko is gone, never to be seen again. Still, the seconds are ticking.spike wrote:My dad had a Seiko he got in Japan for years. I wish I still had it.
