“Jackie Wilson Said” is an awesome song. Van Morrison is underrated on RM.

“Reckoner” is amazing, that would almost certainly be my pick for 2007. In Rainbows is so good.Ello Sailor wrote:Back to Jorge's list, I think I would put Reckoner over Nude but by golly it's close.
Also cool to see Baroness on there.

Goose celebrates 10 years as a band tonight. Pretty cool, except when I was a child, I thought that was a really long time, as if Led Zeppelin’s 11 years was an eternity. Now I refer to bands around 10-15 years as “young bands” because well, my favorite bands are all eclipsing 25-30 years or more. This is 46.

Why didn't anyone tell me Sue Tompkins guested on a song in 2016? God what I wouldn't give for a Life without Buildings reunion

Here's an oral history of the last 15 years of NOFX's career, culminating in their breakup this week
https://www.spin.com/2024/10/nofx-final ... l-history/
Like Pearl Jam, NOFX is a band that meant a lot to me during my teen years, and though I don't listen to their new music I still check in on them every once in a while. I'd heard about their breakup but it was framed as a "going out on a high note" kind of thing.
But man, that article is something else. A lot of drama between these guys. Apparently Fat Mike completely broke after George W. Bush was re-elected. It turned him into the worst kind of self-destructive addict. It also seems like nobody else in the band wanted to break up but him. Everyone seems to be worried about money, but Fat Mike is the millionaire owner of a record label so he's doing fine. It's wild to me that members of such a successful band had to resort to delivering groceries during the pandemic. Also other things going on like the band members being uncomfortable with Fat Mike's weird sex stuff.
Anyway, I found that oral history to be a riveting read. An interesting tale of three punk dudes growing up and one of them absolutely refusing to.

Oh man, I hadn't known they called it quits but not exactly shocked. Thanks for the link, I like how it starts with The Decline.Jorge wrote:Here's an oral history of the last 15 years of NOFX's career, culminating in their breakup this week

I'm going to wager there is a Cokie the Clown story.

Lot of coke mentioned but no Cokie. Really great read and it is something to hear it right from them.
I fell off listening with Pump Up the Valuum but I may give the subsequent albums a listen now that it's on my mind.

I've never had much interest in NOFX (or the 90s punk scene stuff generally) but that was an entertaining read, thanks.
Fat Mike seems like an unbearable guy to play in a band with.

I remember being skeeved out by him when he was a guest on Loveline sometime in the 90s. Had no idea he was insufferable for so many other reasons. Loved Punk in Drublic and WTTHAAB though.
