Re: Deaths that would devastate you the most
When Bob Dylan shuffles off this mortal coil I'll be devastated and there will be a large hole that nobody else could ever fill.
There's nobody like Dylan, and I know the day is coming but I'll never be ready for it.

I won't be DEVASTATED but it'll make me sad for sure. Bill Shatner and Arnold. My childhood heroes.

Re: Deaths that would devastate you the most
So “devastated” was the wrong word. I guess I just meant deaths that might impact your life in some small way or maybe make you really reflect on your own mortality.
Kornheiser and Wilbon are my only link to sports aside from the occasional game I watch. PTI started in the fall of 2001, just one year after I started teaching. They’ve been a constant in my life as an adult. It will be weird when they’re gone.
Pearl Jam became an obsession for me in 10th grade. I’m 47 and saw them 4 times this year. That tour speculation will someday not be a thing is hard to imagine. I really hope I know when I’m seeing PJ for the last time. I will bawl.
Idk. Cornell died not too long after my 100 year old grandpa. My grandpa and I were close. We played pool, went out to lunch, sat around and shot the shit. I loved him and I miss him. But I was also a pretty lonely kid, and I spent countless hours listening to Cornell alone in my room. His voice has been a lifelong companion. It still is, but it feels different. Not haunting or anything. There’s just a sadness, and it’s more than him being gone. More like a piece of my joy is gone. Christ. Idk. Bad thread idea. Carry on.

Autistic RM is alive and wellChris_H_2 wrote:so one of these people dies. do you mean that, at least for a specific period of time, you're mourning and acting differently around other people, and then still feeling some effects despite some time passing since her/his death? I can't imagine any person dying other than people that i actually know that would affect me like that.

It's not a bad thread idea. The great ST had the same idea, once http://forums.theskyiscrape.com/viewtop ... f=7&t=6483daft twat wrote:Bad thread idea. Carry on.

"devastate" isn't the right word, but neither is "impact" for how i'd feel if Jeff Tweedy died of anything but old age.
Knowing what he's struggled with and hearing it play out through his songwriting over Wilco's career continues to speak to me, and I'd be extremely bummed if we lost him too soon.
Now excuse me while I put on "Ambulance" from Cruel Country.

Shatner and Stallone are gonna hit me.
Also, maybe a weird one, but any of the Mike-era MST3K/RiffTrax main three. I bonded with my dad watching those when I was a little kid and their genial Midwestern voices are such a core memory for me.

They're both redacts. Maybe you could say something less embarrassing.
