Yeah that enormous credit is serious bullshit. It's so ridiculously huge as to be comical. I mean who does that? I don't even think legends like George Martin or Don Was ever had that kind of audacity. Remember the old PJ records where all the credits were so tiny and scratchy you could barely find them?Soulfire wrote:I think it is safe to transition this thread's title to not saying "scapegoat" anymore. This guy has fairly earned the animosity.
After seeing his HUGE name in the booklet, it's just the latest insult to injury.

Anybody know what songs? I bet he plays some of the cheese on Sirens since he quite obviously took Mike's three chord strumming and wrote the rest of the song....WtOB? wrote:he also plays guitar on the record. bob rock'd.ridleybradout wrote:Liner notes observation: Brendan's name appears in much larger type than anyone in the band![]()

Ugh. Not only does it say "PRODUCED BY BRENDAN O'BRIEN" in huge caps, it also says "mixed by Brendan O'Brien" underneath.

It's almost like they're trying to make it seem like he did both of those things.harmless wrote:Ugh. Not only does it say "PRODUCED BY BRENDAN O'BRIEN" in huge caps, it also says "mixed by Brendan O'Brien" underneath.

Yeah yeah yeah it's OK. It's just, you know, it could've been done with one credit ("Produced and mixed by..."). It takes up a lot of room.Farmer John wrote:It's almost like they're trying to make it seem like he did both of those things.harmless wrote:Ugh. I really like the factory picture though.

This is good news:

I only got through side A and I couldn't crank it, but it sounds nice. I guess they learned their lesson after Avocado.
Still too much B'OB.

Billy Joe works with Brendan a lot. He helped engineer Backspacer, and a lot of Bruce records. He's a major ProTools kinda guy...he did an interview with GearSlutz a long time back that I can't find now, but he was asked about what his strengths are and he said something like "I'm typically brought in by someone like Brendan to do tuning and editing work on vocals and solos. It's not the most exciting part of the project, but it's something a lot of people want done now."
This is the first time he's mastered anything that I've listened to.

It's ok guys!!! Obrien's name is the normal sized font in the vinyl booklet.
Blame for however shitty you think the album is can go back to, ya know, the guys that wrote and performed most of the music.

Also, your "most of" is a bit telling.

Re: BOB vitriol / scape goat thread
that is pretty ridiculous, giving the band suggestions as a producer is fine, if they have a veto power then it is pretty damn stupid

Yup, I said this as soon as I heard the interview. It's nice to read that the Pit is waking up to the problem.
