Were the first and longest serving UN peacekeeping force since the UN was founded. Been in Lebanon for 50 years or close to it. There to provide a buffer to stop this exact kind of thing happening. Then israel shows up in loads of tanks and does this.

It’s risky but, but Netanyahu is correct here:

“Your refusal to evacuate the UNIFIL soldiers makes them hostages of Hezbollah. This endangers both them and the lives of our soldiers."

The only even semi-rational explanations as to why they haven’t retreated in the face of Israeli warnings and violence is that they are blocked by Hezbollah or their own leadership won’t let them (i.e. they are human shields against the Israeli invasion). Neither option is going to keep the UNFIL soldiers safe or help enforce the UN agreement on Israeli/Lebanon peace

do a bit of reading BI..those UN troops have been there as a buffer for the last 50 years. To stop both sides slaughtering the other. Now the IDF wants to roll in and slaughter, and the villages for miles behind ar mostly all evacuated now.
