Being honest, I'm not crazy about it. Maybe it will grow on me

Re: The Cure
I haven't liked either of the songs so far.
Pretty sure Robert's vision of what the band is (or is now) is miles away from what I'd prefer, but that's fine.
I like what I've seen of the artwork so far, so that's something.

Re: The Cure
I really, really like it.
Yes it's sad and elegiac and the specter of death is present in every key stroke and every lyric sung.
But it's also, at times, scuzzy and psychedelic. Oppressive in a very appealing way. Nice to hear Reeves letting loose.
I'll keep listening and of course my feelings about it will evolve but my first impression is that this is very easily their best since Wish.

Re: The Cure
yeah, this is stunning
I need to let the new ones sink in; The Cure is a band that often finds a groove and stays in it for the duration, so the tracks I hadn't heard need time to work their magic, but in general... wow
I love how both classic and new this sounds; they aren't afraid to sound sentimental and experimental at the same time

Re: The Cure
on "I can never say goodbye", when the band pauses the intro as if to bring in a first verse and Robert come in, but then he... doesn't? and they go around again? that's a powerful technique (also heard in "Alone") that somehow adds to the crushing mournfulness and loneliness, but I struggle to think of another band that could make it work

Re: The Cure
I came of age musically in the 90s, and never has that fact felt so powerful as right now, with so many bands of my youth fucking killing it.

Why are you the way that you are? You can't even hear the difference. You were duped by a spreadsheet for years. Quit your bullshit already.tragabigzanda wrote:I'm waiting to hear from others if the 2LP 45rpm pressing has more headroom...
