Is that what’s happening with the guitar underneath the solo on Something Special? Every time I hear that part it reminds me of Tremor Christ.

There’s this generalized preference for Pearl Jam for me that I would say as recently as in my thirties, I could argue that even the toughest of Pearl Jam albums could stand alongside my favorite and other great albums I could listen to. I am at some point going to test this theory and see how it goes, probably about 10 years after I felt that way.

Genuinely love the song

But why the ever living fuck does the fixer video have crowd noise over it?

So much about that video bothers me more than the crowd noise.

Quite the contrary, I actually passed this head along to the next generation. I'm the problem, it's me.

I don’t know if this is unpopular, but Matt Cameron is maybe my third-least favorite PJ drummer… and I’ve never been a big fan of his song-writing. I get that he’s a fixture, but he’s more like a workhorse than a brilliant musician/writer to me.

Maybe this is less popular.

Matt Cameron has been in the band for 26 years. More than 6 times longer than any other drummer, on more than 3 times as many albums as any other drummer (and more than half of the albums overall), and for more than 2/3rds of the band's history. He's the only drummer I've seen live. He IS Pearl Jam's drummer, and maybe the "best drummer" debate is stupid at this point.

I totally get all of that, and his longevity does set him apart from the other drummers. Maybe it’s just that the “Matt Cameron era” has produced some of what I think are the weakest albums (other than Binaural and Riot Act). Still like the guy, but those Irons and Abbruzzese days were on a different level.

Zak Starkey has been the drummer for The Who since 1996, but I don't think anyone would call him the definitive Who drummer.
