Guadagnino just likes to spray his boring overlong bullshit over bulletproof classics because he's a douche. He already did it (criminally) with Suspiria, which is far more immortal than American Psycho will ever be.

That said, I kind of get the impulse with American Psycho since the book is waaaaaaaay better than the movie, IMO. There's a lot more someone could do with the material.

But not Guadagnino.

They describe it as not a remake of the movie but a new adaptation of the book.

I mean, on the one hand, I totally get it. The movie is pretty different from the book. So, if you're thinking you want to do a more faithful adaptation or if you have a different vision or whatever. I get it. I still have zero faith that it'll be interesting. I'm not sure what anyone could say that would be more interesting than the first movie.

But maybe I'll see a trailer and I'll change my mind. We'll just have to see. But if I was a betting man, I'd bet this will go over about as well as the "new adaptation" of The Crow.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Oh, I completely agree. But "more faithful" is still a valid reason to contemplate a remake. Even if it means it'll automatically be worse.
