I can tell by your sarcasm that we can agree it was awful.

Had pretty low expectations going in but it was an alright episode. I know Arianna had hosted before I don’t remember her doing as well in the sketches as she did.

Her bad singing in the bridesmaid sketch was great.

Just listened to Jay Pharoah’s episode of Fly. Voice-wise, he does the best Trump, Obama and Eddie Murphy I’ve ever heard. Good episode.

Very middling, forgettable episode. I had low expectations being the fourth new one in a row and it was nothing.
Off next week then John Mulaney for the last one before the election. He’s proved to be one of the better hosts the past several years so we’ll see.

Finished the Grande episode. It was fun.

We’re on the Michael Keaton now. Home Shopping Cookie had me howling. Parachute Jump was pretty good too.

Cold open was good.
Digital shorts always deliver.

Keaton should stick to movies.

I think Andrew Dismukes is my favorite current cast member.
Rank the SNL 50 cast (no cameos)
Excluding the noobs and Please Don’t Destroy

Andrew Dismukes
Ego Nwodim
Bowen Yang
Sarah Sherman
Mikey Day
James Austin Johnson
Kenan Thompson
Heidi Gardner
Marcelo Hernandez
Michael Che
Colin Jost
Chloe Fineman
Michael Longfellow
Devon Walker
Dismukes, Yang, Sherman, Longfellow, Day and Nwodim are the must haves, along with JAJ for his impressions.

Outside of that group they're really pushing Hernandez and Fineman this year.

Bill Burr and Charli XCX host the 9th & 16th.
MJ.gee is the musical guest and then Charli does double duty.

You knew you were going to get three extended pieces tonight: the cold political open, Mulaney’s monologue, and a Broadway style musical number. Not a big shock to see Kamala show up; seeing Pete Davidson in the Port Authority bit was a bigger surprise but apparently he & Jost have made up. John Mulaney episodes have their own feel and if you’ve enjoyed his previous five you would have liked this one.
Mulaney’s and Jason Bateman are starting to look like the same person, even though Bateman has to be at least 10 years older.

For their 50th anniversary year, they're not hitting out of the park a whole lot.

Update was solid though.

Update is consistently solid (imo)... Reba was a rare miss this time for me.
I enjoy Mulaney's specials a lot, so his monologue was good, though somewhat tamed.
That "Beppo" space ape skit was great.

i thought that the beppo monkey skit should've ended with him blowing up. that's a good example of the writers still not understanding that sometimes less is more.

I'm wishing Jane Wickline a long and meaningful future on the SNL cast. Her energy is good.
