Me too. I think I'm going to try the burger or the chicken sandwich when I go to portillo.tommy wrote:I don't think I've ever been blown away by a hot dog. I'd rather have a burger 100% of the time.

If we're talking sit-down restaurants, then obviously a burger is superior.
But you can eat a hot dog just about anywhere. It's more of a convenient snack to tide you over than a full meal. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

But you are fat. Not as a collective. I mean you specifically have let yourself all the way go.

I probably won't get anything. It's like 45 minutes away in a suburb. I can make my own just as good.spike wrote:stop calling it thatwashing machine wrote:Me too. I don't doubt it, but I can't help but wonder how much of the Chicago experience is lost in translation when a cult classic expands. Is Portillo (sorry spike) following the In-and-Out model of transporting fresh product from regional hubs?LoathedVermin72 wrote:Their hot dogs and burgers are equally incredible tbh

I kind of wondered about this myself, but FWIW my wife (who is also an Illinoisan) has had Portillo's in AZ and said it tastes the same.washing machine wrote:I don't doubt it, but I can't help but wonder how much of the Chicago experience is lost in translation when a cult classic expands. Here's what the locals have to say about the one around here. I joke with leaving off the s at the end, but I honestly learned thru this reddit thread that it's pronounced por-til-os.

In Argentina they're definitely considered snacks, but because they're very basic and not very substantial. Argentina is definitely at the very bottom of hot dog rankings of anywhere I've visited or lived.spike wrote:the rest of the world calls america fat and this guy just called a hot dog a snackEllo Sailor wrote:If we're talking sit-down restaurants, then obviously a burger is superior.
