Me too. I think I'm going to try the burger or the chicken sandwich when I go to portillo.

If we're talking sit-down restaurants, then obviously a burger is superior.

But you can eat a hot dog just about anywhere. It's more of a convenient snack to tide you over than a full meal. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

But you are fat. Not as a collective. I mean you specifically have let yourself all the way go.

I probably won't get anything. It's like 45 minutes away in a suburb. I can make my own just as good.

I don't doubt it, but I can't help but wonder how much of the Chicago experience is lost in translation when a cult classic expands. Is Portillo (sorry spike) following the In-and-Out model of transporting fresh product from regional hubs?

I kind of wondered about this myself, but FWIW my wife (who is also an Illinoisan) has had Portillo's in AZ and said it tastes the same.

Glad you're getting your fix soon.

Here's what the locals have to say about the one around here. I joke with leaving off the s at the end, but I honestly learned thru this reddit thread that it's pronounced por-til-os.

In Argentina they're definitely considered snacks, but because they're very basic and not very substantial. Argentina is definitely at the very bottom of hot dog rankings of anywhere I've visited or lived.

Colombian hot dogs go hard though
