Gee, tough crowd

I admit I was reaching a bit to include a song from HTDAAB but I've always been a sucker for the lyrical subject of Miracle Drug and the emotion of the story behind it:
Wikipedia wrote:It was written about the late Irish writer Christopher Nolan, with whom the band attended Mount Temple Comprehensive School. Bono said of Nolan:[1]
“ We all went to the same school and just as we were leaving, a fellow called Christopher Nolan arrived. He had been deprived of oxygen for two hours when he was born, so he was paraplegic. But his mother believed he could understand what was going on and used to teach him at home. Eventually, they discovered a drug that allowed him to move one muscle in his neck. So they attached this unicorn device to his forehead and he learned to type. And out of him came all these poems that he'd been storing up in his head. Then he put out a collection called Dam-Burst of Dreams,[2] which won a load of awards and he went off to university and became a genius. All because of a mother's love and a medical breakthrough.
I was also at their last show in Dublin in 2005 when Nolan was in attendance and Bono talked about his story, so that probably left a mark on me.

The version on pop is very good, but the remix on the GH is just outstanding

The remix on the GH pisses me off. It takes all of the teeth out of the original one.

Yeah, the version on the Mexico City video from right after Michael Hutchence died is really great.

I just added "The Joker" to a playlist. Then I ended up here.

Also, I am not gonna say Tom Petty because I can be a bit of a zealot sometimes…but…Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Greatest Hits was my entry point and far and away my favorite greatest hits album ever.

Def journey, credence, n prince

Possibly seger, I have a few songs I like tho that I'm not sure if they were "hits" back in the day

Whoever said the stones is out of their mind.. if I did a top 15 stones list I bet only like 2 or 3 are on their greatest hits

The Stones have enough great albums that you could instead make a “greatest albums” instead of hits and still not get it all.

I take exception to the idea that CCR was just a hits band. They only released like 66 songs and I'd say at least 28 are essential. 42%!

01 Green River
02 Fortunate Son
03 Up Around the Bend
04 Bad Moon Rising
05 Hey Tonight
06 I Put a Spell on You
07 Porterville
08 Feelin' Blue
09 Cotton Fields
10 Commotion
11 Susie-Q
12 Travelin' Band
13 Down on the Corner
14 Born on the Bayou
15 Run Through the Jungle
16 Don't Look Now
17 I Heard It Through the Grapevine
18 Long As I Can See the Light
19 Bootleg
20 Lodi
21 Effigy
22 Sweet Hitch-Hiker
23 Have You Ever Seen the Rain
24 Who'll Stop the Rain
25 Proud Mary
26 Lookin' Out My Back Door
27 The Midnight Special
28 The Night Time Is the Right Time

CCR deep cuts are where it's at. Chronicle Vol 2 is arguably better than Chronicle Vol 1.

Yeah, CCR is more than hits.

Even after that Doors catalogue run a few years ago, I sadly only really care for their hits for the most part with a few other songs sprinkled in.

Both of my 10-year old picks in this thread (CCR and Stones) were dumb

A greatest hits tourney excluding the Beatles would be fun if there were enough users on this board. Of course, would anyone challenge Billy Joel?

Neil Diamond would strike down anyone who stood in his way.
