The people you serve hate you for it

My honest response is that it's not about them. It's about my own sanity and sobriety, and committing fully to the following:

-I'm not the smartest person in the room and I have no idea what's best for people (this is really hard for me!)

-My power to influence people decreases A) generally proportional to geographic distance, and B) as it relates to people/orgs with more money than me

-My own beliefs are fluid and subject to change

-The one static belief that seems to stand up under my own ethical scrutiny is that a living wage and access to basic humans services are the best paths to sovereignty for anyone, regardless of whether we share the same beliefs

Ergo, the best things I can do are:

1. Show up for my wife and kid every day with a clear head.

2. Try to allocate my dollars into businesses that treat the planet and people fairly.

3. Buy local whenever possible, and make local philanthropic donations.

4. Support others who are struggling with addiction (I currently have a "soft sponsee," just waiting for the hard ask).

5. Deliver small acts of service throughout my day as opportunities arise.

This is an ideal way to live and I actually applaud you for it. I strive to do the same. But people will hate you for it because it’s hard and they wont make the same choice.

I don't buy that a reason she lost is that she didn't do enough outreach to young, male voters.

She didn't do Rogen -- not as a slight, btw, or because she dismissed him, but because of timing and scheduling (and his inflexible demands).

She did All The Smoke. She did Stem. She did Charlamagne tha God. It's not fair to pretend like no effort was made.

She certainly made more of an effort than her opponent did to court his unlikely demographics. Maybe if Trump had lost, people would be arguing he should have done The View or Call Her Daddy?

The last three presidential elections have been razor thin, and there have been very little margins for error. White male voters, and in particular white, male working voters, have been trending toward the Republicans. The data show what the data show, regardless of whether people want to give credence to them or not. Trump doesn't have to go out of way to appeal to them because he's not losing them. But he also understands that they are his ticket to victory (it turns out that latino and black men also broke for him).

Again, her not making more of an outreach in messaging is not the reason she lost. But it didn't help.

There are a lot of reasons she lost. Misogyny is a far bigger one than she didn't do Rogen.

honestly, this is why you're so difficult to have a dialogue with on issues on which you're very emotional. no one said this. i certainly didn't. but you keep arguing extremes that were never mentioned, and it's super frustrating.
