His resume is nothing short of incredible. The Allman Brothers Band, The Dead, Gov’t Mule, Warren Haynes Band. Mentored Marcus King when he was just starting out.

And so many guest spots. One of the best parts of Mountain Jam was where Warren might end up. When I saw him at Levon Helm's Barn, a tour stop for Man in Motion, Larry Campbell was out for the night so Warren filled in. Just stellar and respectful playing all night.

Just saw him at the Ryman a few weeks ago. Second only to James Brown.

Now I’ve seen his solo band, Gov’t Mule and the Allmans. Saw one of the Sco-Mule shows too. He’s absolutely one of my all-timers.

Ah, yes. Obama has taste! Nothing better than seeing Warren and Derek play together. I really wish they’d get together on something longer lasting than just sitting in with each other.

I couldn’t tell who was on bass and keyboards. Have to be Kofi since he was still alive during Obama’s terms. Can’t tell if that’s Oteil on bass, tho.

Booker T. Jones - musical director/band leader
Bobby Avila - bass
Jesse Johnson - guitar
Narada Michael Walden - drums
Ernie Fields, Jr. - saxophone
Freddie Hendrix - trumpet
Fred Wesley – trombone

I would guess it's Booker on the keys.

Oh!! I assumed it was Derek and Susan’s band. Even better. Booker T? Hell yes. Jesse Johnson from The Time. Yes!

I’m on second listen today on Million Voices Whisper. For a guy who can shred, sometimes it’s good to sit back and just appreciate the way he puts together a song. Go Down Swinging is one of those examples. Admittedly, it does feel good to hear him jamming with Derek Trucks on a few songs on this one.

My wife got an invite from a friend to go to MSG for the Soulshine Concert to benefit Asheville while I watched on livestream. Pretty wild show with special guests up and down the place. Dave Matthews Band headlined utilizing Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, Trey Anastasio, Ben Jaffe (Preservation Hall Jazz Band), Trombone Shorty, Nathaniel Rateliff and Susan Tedeschi in various spots. Warren Haynes Band used a lot of the same guests. Nathaniel Rateliff dueted with Mavis Staples. Goose played a set with Dave Matthews sitting in on The Way It Is (the Hornsby cover).

Worth finding on the internets if you were so inclined.

Yeah it seemed like a good show. I can’t remember a benefit concert ever where I wanted to see everyone on the bill. Usually it’s a mix and match kind of deal. Weird that those stars aligned and then she fell into a ticket and I stayed home with the kids. The way of life sometimes.

what a fantastic event. like liebzz, this was a rare 'fest' type grouping where i am literally into everyone involved to some extent. i wish i could have been there, but watching it was well worth it.

looks like it will be up a few more days if you want to check it out (and donate! if you can spare a few bucks, it looks like they're still $20k short of their goal).

Goose and Dave Matthews “The Way It Is”, Warren Haynes & Derek Trucks “Whipping Post”, Dave Matthews Band, Trey Anastasio, Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi “The Weight”, and Dave Matthews Band, Trey Anastasio, Trombone Shorty & Ben Jaffe “Jimi Thing > Brick House” are really amazing highlights. Nathaniel Rateliff “SOB” with Trombone Shorty and Ben Jaffe is also pretty great. A wonderful show really front to back.

I know I may be in the minority but I absofuckinglutely love seeing Warren and Derek together on Allman tunes. It’s probably cliche, but I don’t care.
