If there is a lot of time spent on Yavin, I imagine we may get a lot of cameos from lesser known characters from Rebels, Clone Wars, etc.

Andor dies at the Battle Of Scarif, which is ahead of the Battle Of Yavin. But there may have been just 4-5 days between the end of Rogue One, and the end of ANH.

Like a big battle with the Empire in a different system and they escape to Yavin

or

scouts finding the planet and the ruins and trying to relay the info back to the Rebels.



Just no backstory about the original inhabitants....keep it a mystery.
