Kendrick Lamar is better than Soundgarden

Other than Pearl Jam, who else is there?

That’s fair. This album doesn’t strike me as over-intellectualized, though it’s just one listen so far. After Mr. Morale I just wanted him rapping again; that’s all I really meant.

Mr Morale is criminally underrated. It's not DAMN. but it's so fucking good.

This one starts stronger than it ends. Huge 90s vibes, last few tracks are reminiscent of Overly Dedicated and Section 80.

This hits the spot of Mr. Morale and the beef singles. Dude is just rapping. Can't remember my favorites after 1 listen but there are some gems.

He’s not my thing, but I teach high school seniors, and they were absolutely buzzing today. How cool to be young and have an artist you love drop an album like an RKO out of nowhere.

My son (hs junior) literally just told me how they all found out when it dropped and how they were all listening to it at lunch. Quite different from how music dropped when I was in hs.

I get why Kendrick has earned some detractors.
I don’t agree, but I get it.

With that said, GNX just slapped a big stupid grin on my face, and kept it there from start to end.

This dude is definitely the dude.

Pitchfork's guy finds "reincarnated" unlistenable, and it's probably my favorite track on the thing.

Because it's an obvious reference/homage to Pac. So that makes sense.

Okay, so I just listened to a podcast about this record and apparently, the woman who sings in Spanish was a woman Kendrick met at the World Series on Oct. 25th. And the producer of the title track said he sent Kendrick the beat/sample 2 DAYS before the album dropped --- which makes sense since he really only does the hook in that song, and the verses are all features.

All that to say... there's just no way this is the only thing Kendrick has on deck. Sounds like this album came together really quickly. And that blows my mind! But also, get ready... Something else is coming and I can't fucking wait!
