My wife has banned me playing that Benny Mardones track again. Shame, absolute earworm.

Re: Yacht Rock
I love yacht rock songs with harmonized choruses. These two are my favorite:

Recently finished Michael McDonald's new memoir so his stuff is in heavy rotation right now. Man, what a voice and vibe. His first solo album is killer. I saw The Doobie Brothers open for Steely Dan in 2018, which was right before McDonald rejoined them again and I really wish he had been playing with them at the time.

The end of that intro is a little Zappa-esque. I thought they were about to get freaky, but it was short-lived.
Still, pretty cool.

michael mcdonald might have one of the best voices ever, but i dunno how you go from steely dan and the doobie brothers to the piles of shit he was releasing in the 80s.

Re: Yacht Rock
maybe i'll check those out. his voice is amazing, i'm sure there's something i'll like. i just immediately associate his name with bad pop music from the 80s.

Anyone check out the new yacht rock doc on Max yet? I haven’t, but I will soon. My kid has been playing Tin Man by America on his guitar lately.

I’m hoping to get the book for Christmas. One of my favorite male singers.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Recently finished Michael McDonald's new memoir so his stuff is in heavy rotation right now. I’m hoping there’s a large portion dedicated to the Dan since he pretty much owes them everything.

My cousin sent me a note about it the other day and said it was great. I’ve not gotten a chance to watch it yet.daft twat wrote:Anyone check out the new yacht rock doc on Max yet? I haven’t, but I will soon. My kid has been playing Tin Man by America on his guitar lately.

Great doc. Lots of fun. Fagen’s response to the request for the interview is hysterical.

Re: Yacht Rock
evidently steely dan isn't fond of being labeled as yacht rock. hopefully donald fagen doesn't read LV's posts here.
