Burt's hatred of S1 is one of the all-time worst takes on RM. It absolutely rules.

It absolutely does, but it’s the only great season. As anthology series go, I think Fargo has it way outclassed. Season 1 was great, 2 was a masterpiece, and the most recent season with John Hamm was also great.

Shocked to see 2 so low on anyone’s list, though the finale was a bit of a letdown.

It's not an indictment of the quality of S2 but rather an acknowledgement of the quality of the series overall. S4 is the only one that's below a B, to me.

5 and 1 are both perfect, in my view. 3 and 2 could switch on a given rewatch. But I tend to favor 3 because of the tone. Both are excellent, though.
