I wanted to watch the Cuaron one. I enjoyed it so I looked back at the older ones. I remember enough of the first one so I skipped it. I watched the second. I read the Wikipedia for four and five, then watched the final fight of five. It was bad. Then I watched six, seven, and soon eight
5 is the potentially the best of the films because it's the only one that is better than the novel it's based on.
Think five is the best book, and the movie lets it down.
The best book is CLEARLY 4. But I'll also accept 3 as an answer. 5 and 2 are the worst books of the series, but for very different reasons.

Books:
4
3
6
7
1
2
5

Movies:
3
5 (though the adaptation is much better and therefore might make this one the best)
7 part 2
7 part 1

2

Movies

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I don't really have any interest in the books but I think the movie series is kind of incredible. It's pretty amazing what they accomplished; there's no way those should have turned out so well, especially over such a long period with multiple filmmakers.

Indeed. While the LOTR movies and the Star Wars OT movies were great, the stability and quality of the Harry Potter movies has been higher than the newer Star Wars movies, or the Hobbit movies. Difficult to compare to Marvel/MCU, but you could more or less say the same compared to those, with some low lows in the MCU.

The sequel trilogy and Solo have many flaws. Rogue One is the best of them.

All the Harry Potter movies were good solid movies.

They have some awful stuff in them. Should have been two movies long at best.

Personally I'd cut them down to 0

I think there are some good movies there, but I have no problem understanding where you’re coming from with your comment.

I do like the book. A one movie true adaptation would have been sweet.

We’ll have to agree to disagree again. There is nothing in the Harry Potter movies that is anywhere near as unplanned and uneven as the Sequel Trilogy.

:heartbeat:

Unplanned, sure because the books already existed. But uneven... ? Yeah, we'll definitely have to agree to disagree.

But, to be clear, I really do enjoy the HP franchise. I even like the Magical Beasts movies, which I know most people hate.
