Gladiator II

Post by Ensign9 »

This movie stinks. I had a bad feeling as soon as I realized the opening credits were a recap montage of Gladiator. Stand on your own two legs and set the tone with something original.

Bad writing, bad acting, bad direction (all of the non-CG scenes and shots looked TV quality), mediocre music (if Hans Zimmer isn’t available, you wait for Hans Zimmer), and a bad script. A movie focused entirely on Dondas’ rise to power would’ve been preferable.

I was gonna go tonight, but I forgot I had a birthday party to go to so I ended up giving the tickets away. Maybe this week. I have foolish faith in Ridley's ability

It's possible a better cut of this movie exists as Ridley typically has way too heavy a hand in the editing room.

I wasn’t completely bored by it, but I just did not care about the protagonist. I liked the twin emperors at least

I saw this over the weekend. It was fine. It wasn't great, but I didn't hate it

I think I'm going to be in the minority here, but I really liked this. Sure, it's unnecessary, but it tied into the story of the original nicely and it was bat-shit in the best ways.

I also liked the movie. Nothing to be taken too seriously. I think this is one of the problems with modern audiences, they are super fuckin serious and boring. This is why The Substances and the Terrifiers are blowing up, people are tired of all the self important shit.

So are audiences serious and boring? Or are they tired of the self important shit?
