I remember thinking Eddie's voice kinda declined in the late 00's and stayed kinda constant but man he sounded pretty good still in 2013 at least here. Has he gotten worse or was 2013 just an especially good resurgence? I do feel like he sounded oddly good in '13-'14

To my ears he didn’t sound great in 2013. I saw them in Calgary that tour and he sounded pretty bad. Lots of cracking and squeaking.

He sounded much better in 2018 and then even better in 2022. The downtuning is definitely working. 2022 was the best I heard him sound since around 2011.

I think it’s just be still had a clear voice on some of the higher points of his range instead of sounding shouty. Of course he still sounded shouty on other parts lol

They didn’t downtune that I could tell at all in Ft Worth and even sick he sounded better than he has in years.

I love the two lead-style guitars from Mike and Stone after the first chorus. Also the whole song is great, especially the end. 5/5

Is there another intended meaning to this song’s lyrics beyond the environmental message?

Such as (did you have something in mind)? I think it's as much a song about thinking about how things change/what we can change as it is the environment per se. Environmental concerns are how that deeper question is addressed

One of my favorites on Riot Act. I especially like the music during the first verse. Love the intro and outro. Good chorus. Definitely in my top 5 from this album.

I just listened to Why Go followed by Cropduster. Really highlighted just how good Cropduster is.

One of those is probably the best Pearl Jam song about plants. The other one though
