stupid mop sounds like the voice was simply removed with ai. and immortality sounds like the live version of the original lyrics vocals where placed over the studio cut. not sure these are real "rough mixes".
Well, that's exactly what it is.
I'm all for using modern tech to create transformative stuff. I think though that one of the tricky parts is going to be proper labelling. We're already at the point where an instrumental is almost impossible to distinguish between the AI generated one and the genuine original mix. .. certainly when done correctly anyways. If someone says, 'oh hey here's band X playing a rehearsal demo', do I know that is band X vs a cover band? You could say, ah, but the vocals are pretty obvious! Are they? I'm always fascinated when people discuss this stuff because there's so much guess work involved with saying that the drums really sound like this drummer and not that drummer. You have to really know the patterns and have the ear for it. Someday, maybe I'll be familliar enough to know the difference between Dave, Dave, or your other brother Dave. I gaffed this up yesterday cuz I said something was a song by Abbruzzese and my friend had to correct me that no, it was Kruzen. The story is both fascinating and not nearly as exciting as you'd think, so don't ask lol.
Anyway, the point of my thought splam is that we're going to have a real labelling problem in the years to come .. where people label it as one thing, when it's really not.
We're already having that problem. .. and no way it's going away .. but it's important to tag the process.
