Way before that. Like 93 onwards. They used to sell these bootleg CDs of shows in the bootlegs shops here. And they were ridiculously experisive. Like £30 at the time. And we’d buy them. So the Atlanta show double cd or monkey wrench radio show. And you’d buy it.
Think I was out of that game by the time give way rolled around.
They were great days though. Those bootlegs gigs kept me going. Never thought id get to see them play live. Here on the far side of the world.
They turned up though. Eventually
a way for people in the CD factory to hide they were using the machine to print bootlegs
also remember the CDs being thick AF they were like steel grade discs

Oh god yes!
Remember that. You’d get home and there’d be Celine dion or oasis on the disc (later on it was always oasis) and a moments panic until you put it in and make sure.
Some Italian mafia outfit ran the whole thing. They had several ‘company names’
Happier days
Sure they forced pj to start selling their own boots so some good came of it in the end

Ha, this certainly didn't occur to me at the time but looking back I totally remember stuff like this. I had one called "Dangerous Mind" from one of the Showbox '96 shows. The discs were these plain white CD's that just said "KEYS TO SUCCESS" on them in green letters. Maybe sort of business self-help audiobook label or something?96583UP wrote: the bootleg CDs were funny when the disc had something else printed on them

Last time I was in an HMV (probably 10 years ago) they were selling these bootleg CDs - they probably still are. There's some European copyright loophole that allows them to be sold or something.dimejinky99 wrote:stip wrote:no but this was before the bootlegs were available so it felt like a bit dealdimejinky99 wrote:So another bootleg. You can still see them as 'official' releases on streaming services (this may just be a Euro/UK thing):

No, they played only one Showbox show in 1996. The bootleg you're talking about featured the Key Arena show (Sept 16th, 1996), and that title is just a reference to that venue. Plus, there's another bootleg featuring the same show that is actually titled like that on the cover (the discs were the exact same if I remember right) https://www.discogs.com/release/5029408 ... I have that "Dangerous Mind" boot too, along with many other unofficial bootlegs like that. I also remember buying the "Keys To Success" boot (the one with the title on the cover) off Ebay many, many years ago, and never received it. That was a time when I was buying TONS of PJ stuff (vinyl, CDs bootlegs official and unofficial/singles/promos), and that one just never arrived and I guess the seller simply never sent it. I think maybe I waited too long to open the item not received thing with Ebay/Paypal. To this day, it's the only time that happened to me (and I bought hundreds of stuff over the years off Ebay/Discogs, not just PJ).
The previous show from 1996 (Sept 14th) was the actual Showbox concert, and was also released in a similar fashion https://www.discogs.com/master/837448-P ... Secret-Gig it was titled Secret Gig (because, yeah, was kind of a secret show but in the end it wasn't actually that secret). Even in this case, same artwork on discs for both versions.
Yeah, I'm a bootleg nerd.
I also don't remember different artists listed on any of the unofficial boots I own. Funny titles, wrong dates, wrong venues, inconsistencies (like the example above) and odd artwork, but never something like described by some of you. You're all making this shit up
