The Den of Thieves Film Series

Post by Ensign9 »

Both movies have the same problem: the filmmakers rip off superior movies (Heat and Ronin) and think they're as talented as the crew that made those films and take themselves way too seriously. They need to embrace the ripoff and have more fun with it. Butler's character in 1 is mostly fun. A lot of that charm and edge is lost in 2.

And, good god, the first 60% of the movie had me bored to tears. Too much silent brooding with zero score. Woof!

The heist was good. That's about it.

If Gerard Butler is in a movie then I'm not going to see it. The guy makes exclusively crap.

Yeah but it's often enjoyable crap. Like candy or a gas station hot dog.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I haven’t seen the second film, but the first was quite decent. Nowhere near the best film of that year, but a fun action film, with a thin plot. Had a bit of Heat in it as well for sure.

I don’t love Heat like the rest of the board does, but obviously that one was more original, with better actors. Though not without some flaws of its own.

The first one was fun, probably because i was expecting a piece of shit and it wasnt. And Butler himself was having fun with it.

Havent seen the sequel yet.

Are these movies part of the Olympus Has Fallen Shared Cinematic Universe?
