I happened to flip on the tv tonight, channel guide told me Chappelle was on SNL. Fuck yes.

Never heard of Glorilla until tonight and while I’m sure SNL has had worse musical guests in its 50 years on the air, I’m struggling to think of who that was. Give me those few minutes back.

How many more years do you think this show will still be talked about?

First two eps of SNL 50: Beyond Saturday Night down. First ep is fun to watch past stars watch their auditions, and the second ep covering a week with the writing staff was super interesting.

That’s why I start the show late and fast forward through commercials and the musical guest. I don’t like rap to begin with but wow that seemed below average for rap.

I laughed out loud early in Chapelle's monologue, but got bored during the Diddy jokes and moved on to Weekend Update.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

One thing that is strange is that we’ve never had SNL on tv here. We’ve got s hundred channels, all the movies, all the sport, all the talk shows, but never has a channel shown SNL.

I only watched the monologue. It was so much better than fine. A+, and not a trans joke in sight, thank God. Biggest laugh for me was when he pantomimed slowly masturbating while looking disapprovingly across the room. The final 2 minutes were very moving, I thought.

Only Dave Chappelle can get away with the cigarette smoking and the jerking off mimicking.
Solid episode overall for me.
1. Monologue
2. Weekend Update
3. Evacuation Alert

I could listen to Downey (and Smigel) talk SNL all day long, although I'm not 100% certain I'd choose Carvey and Spade as the interviewers.

I think it has to do with music licensing, which has been a constant challenge for them in the streaming era. Both performances and skits that rely on licensed music are problematic for international markets; a lot of time the original song in a skit will get changed for streaming or syndication.
Bugs me that I can't see the Your Love / Josh Hutcherson sketch on YT because of licensing issues.

Bingo
I'd add Martin Short to the list of exclusions.

Yeah that's where I typically find it but I don't use Tiktok so I have to sit through all of that platform's desperate pleas to sign up before I can watch it.
