Post Random Pearl Jam-Related Thoughts You Have

Post by blueviper »

“Of the Earth” is my most anticipated song that I hope gets an official release, either on an album or a Lost Dogs type compilation.

It’s great live, and I wonder if it was created while on a tour, as it feels like it was built for live performance.

I second this. If they did some Binaural-style production on it, it would really shine.

I love the fact that of the earth is not easily pinned down. Not an anthem not in the quirky lane, too long. It's glorious

Of The Earth has become a 5 star song recently. I never it paid alot of attention to it . Oddly like PJ is usually more inspiring than non live Pearl Jam, but not always. I think this is true in regards to Waiting For Stevie as well. If I had only heard it live and not in the context of a studio take it might come down a bit.

Wild to think they could have many near finished or finished songs that we have never heard

Of The Earth is glorious. First heard it at Hyde Park 2010 and just lost my shit. Have been hoping it'd be on a studio album ever since. I understand why it didn't fit on Backspacer but it would have worked on either Lightning Bolt or Gigaton IMO.

I'm not absolutely sure but I think OtE was conceived during the avocado era and would have gone great on that record (along w cold confession)

It started during the Avocado sessions and was originally titled Rise and Fall, then flipped to Of the Earth in later interviews during that time.

The bass line in the jamming part on Of the Earth is sick.

I would love to hear more the Avocado sessions version than Backspacer ones.

I think I would, too. Avocado seems more varied to me than Backspacer. Sounds like it might have been a more fruitful and experimental session.
